Japan: Industrial Output Growth Revised Higher.

Japan’s industrial production rose 1.9% month-over-month in June 2026, exceeding flash data of 1.3% and picking up from a 0.1% increase in the previous month. It marked the third consecutive monthly expansion and the strongest growth since January, as manufacturing activity continued to recover amid easing supply chain disruptions and moderating energy cost pressures tied to prolonged Middle East tensions. Output rebounded sharply for production machinery (7.7% vs -3.5% in May), electrical machinery and information and communication electronics equipment (5.5% vs -5.1%), and general-purpose and business-oriented machinery (4.7% vs -6.0%). Meanwhile, production declined for electronic parts and devices (-6.1% vs 1.2%) and iron, steel, and non-ferrous metals (-0.4% vs 0.3%). On an annual basis, industrial output grew by 4.9%, reversing a 2.1% decline in May and marking the strongest rise sice September 2022.
