Indonesia: Car Sales Fall 13.8% in March.

New car sales in Indonesia dropped 13.8% year-on-year to 61,271 units in March 2026, reversing an upwardly revised 12.3% surge in the previous month. The decline was due to the long Eid al-Fitr holiday. However, for the first quarter of the year, car sales rose 1.7% compared to the same period in 2025, reaching 209,021 units. The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) previously targeted domestic new car sales to reach 850,000 units in 2026. That figure represents a 5.8% increase from the 2025 total of 803,687 units. On a monthly basis, car sales also declined, plunging 24.6% from February, when they recorded 81,250 units. Meanwhile, retail new car sales fell 14.8% month-on-month to 66,637 units.
