New car sales in Indonesia surged 32.4% year-on-year to a five-month high of 81,756 units in August 2026, following a 33.3% jump in July and marking the fifth consecutive month of expansion, according to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO). Gaikindo previously targeted domestic new car sales to reach 850,000 units in 2026. That figure represents a 5.8% increase from the 2025 total of 803,687 units. On a monthly basis, car sales edged up 0.8%.
