Building consents for new dwellings in New Zealand fell 4.3% month-on-month in July 2026, following an upwardly revised 3.7% drop in June, marking the fourth decline so far this year. A total of 3,579 new dwellings were consented, including 1,769 stand-alone houses, 1,567 townhouses, 196 apartments, and 47 retirement village units.
