15 September 2026, 15:15  Brazil: Retail Sales Decline in July.

Brazil's retail sales fell 0.8% month-over-month in July 2026, following a 0.5% rise in June. Five of the eight sectors posted declines, led by furniture and household appliances (-4.9%), books, newspapers, magazines and stationery (-4.2%), textiles, clothing and footwear (-2.7%), other personal and household goods (-2.2%), and hypermarkets and supermarkets (-0.2%). Three sectors grew, led by pharmaceutical and perfumery products (0.6%), office, IT and communication equipment (0.6%), and fuels and lubricants (0.3%). Sales fell in 20 of Brazil's 27 states, led by Amapa and Tocantins (-2.5% each) and Mato Grosso (-2.2%). In contrast, expanded retail sales increased 0.4%, following a 1.1% decline in June.
