15 September 2026, 13:29  South Africa: 10-Year Bond Yield at Over 5-Month High.

South Africa’s 10-year government bond yield climbed further above 9%, reaching the highest level since March 31, tracking a broader rise in global yields. Higher energy prices are adding to inflation concerns and expectations for tighter monetary policy. South Africa is particularly exposed to the oil shock because of its reliance on energy imports, which raises both the import bill and inflation risks. This could limit the scope for monetary easing and keep borrowing costs elevated for longer.
