1 September 2026, 09:52 Australia: Commodity Prices Rise at Softer Pace.
The Reserve Bank of Australia's Index of Commodity Prices rose 15.5% year-on-year in August 2026, easing from an upwardly revised 17.2% gain in the previous month. The advance was driven by higher prices across most commodities, except iron ore and alumina. In Australian dollar terms, the index climbed 5.8% year-on-year in August, slowing from a 9.2% gain in the prior month. On a monthly basis, commodity prices increased 1.2% in August in SDR terms, reversing a 0.5% decline in the preceding month. The non-rural and base metals subindices posted gains, while the rural subindex decreased.
