Norway’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 4.9% in August 2025 from 4.5% in the previous month. The number of unemployed persons climbed by 16 thousand from a month earlier to 152 thousand. Meanwhile, the employment rate increased to 70% from 69.7% in July, as the number of employed individuals grew by 14 thousand to 2.920 million. The labor force participation rate went up to 73.7% in August from 72.9% in the prior month. Moreover, the youth unemployment rate, which measures the number of job-seekers aged 15 to 24, jumped to a fresh record high of 18.5%, up from 13.8% in the preceding period.
