25 September 2025, 06:37 USA: U.S. Reduces European Car Duties.
The U.S. will lower tariffs on European cars to 15% from 27.5%, with the change applied retroactively from August 1, 2025, a government filing showed Wednesday. The move delivers on Washington’s pledge under the US-EU trade agreement announced in July. The tariff cut followed the European Commission’s recent introduction of legislation to reduce duties on a range of U.S. goods, a step the U.S. had been awaiting. The notice, to be officially published in the Federal Register on Thursday, also confirms exemptions for European aircraft and parts, generic drugs, and certain natural resources - rolling back Trump-era measures that had strained transatlantic trade ties.
