The FTSE 100 fell on Friday, snapping a six-day winning streak, after weaker-than-expected UK retail data. Retail sales rose 0.9% in June, missing forecasts, while May’s sharp drop was revised down to -2.8%, the worst since December 2023. Consumer sentiment also dipped, with GfK's index falling as households brace for possible autumn tax hikes. Rightmove fell more than 2% despite beating H1 profit estimates, as it warned that growth in H2 would slow. JD Sports closed slightly lower but well off session lows, hit by concerns over US tariffs after Puma slashed its earnings forecast. However, it noted improving property market trends, with June listings and demand up 9% and 6% year-on-year.
