1 February 2005, 16:33  Dollar, Gold Up in European Trading

The U.S. dollar was up against other major currencies in European trading Tuesday morning. Gold rose. The euro was quoted at $1.3027, down from $1.3034.
Other dollar rates:
--103.92 Japanese yen, up from 103.44
--1.1913 Swiss francs, up from 1.1880
--1.2414 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2386
The British pound was quoted at $1.8798, down from $1.8863.
Gold dealers in London fixed a recommended price of $421.15 bid per troy ounce at midmorning, up from $420.55 on Monday.
In Zurich the bid price was $420.75, up from $420.70.
Gold fell $3.20 in Hong Kong to close at $420.95.
Silver opened in London at $6.68 bid per troy ounce, down from $6.69.
