The euro zone economic sentiment indicator fell to 98.0 in May from an upwards-revised 98.1 in April, the European Commission said. Economists polled by AFX News had been forecasting 98.0 for May. The previous figure for April was 97.9. The commission said the euro zone industrial confidence indicator fell to minus 13 in May from April's minus 12.
Economists polled by AFX forecast minus 11 for May. The consumer sentiment indicator fell to minus 20 from minus 19 in April. The economists polled by AFX forecast minus 18 for May. The euro zone business climate indicator for May deteriorated to minus 0.68 from an upwards revised minus 0.54 in April, the Commission said.
