TOKYO - Finance Minister Masajuro Shiokawa said Tuesday he wants the consumer price index (CPI) to stabilize at around zero percent because continuous price falls would have a negative impact on the nation's economy. Speaking at a regular press conference, Shiokawa also said he wants to conduct tax reforms in ways that will boost the stock market and stimulate activities of small and medium-size firms.
