LONDON (AFX) - UK net new consumer credit totalled 1.492 bln stg in
September on a seasonally-adjusted basis, compared with August's total
of 1.233 bln, according to data released by the Bank of England.
The AFX News median of analysts' forecasts was for September net
new consumer credit to have totalled 1.3 bln stg.
Within this total, credit card credit rose to 409 mln stg from 329
mln in August.
The BoE went on to report that net lending secured on dwellings
fell to 4.517 bln stg in September from 5.114 bln the previous month.
Total net lending, which includes both lending secured on dwellings
and consumer credit, fell to 6.008 bln stg from 6.347 bln the previous
month.
The BoE added that the value of approvals of new mortgage loans
fell to 13.818 bln stg from 14.471 bln in August, with the number of
approvals falling to 102,000 from 113,000 in August.
