TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - The government may have to draw up a second supplementary budget to finance assistance for the US-led response to the Sept 11 attacks and to help Afghan refugees, Jiji Press news agency reported. "If (the US retaliation) lasts a long time, we may have to consider a second supplementary budget," said a senior official of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, according to the news agency. "Since we have promised to provide support, we cannot say we will stop it halfway," the unnamed official said. Last week Tokyo said it was prepared to provide up to 120 mln usd to assist Afghan refugees, approximately 20 pct of the total funding requested by United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
