4 September 2001, 11:08 BOJ says Japan's monetary base accelerates to 9.0% gain on year in Aug
Tokyo, Sept. 4 (BridgeNews) - Japan's monetary base for August stood
at 68.273 trillion yen, up 9.0% on year, accelerating from a 8.0% rise in
July, the Bank of Japan announced. Also, the seasonally-adjusted monetary
base, a combination of cash currency and current account deposits, posted
a sharp 13.6% rise on month in August, compared with 6.8% growth in July.
The monetary base acceleration can be attributed to the additional
monetary easing measures announced by the BOJ on August 14.
