21 September 2001, 09:17 MoF's Kuroda to meet European/US counterparts next wk on G7 talks
TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Zenbei Mizoguchi, senior director general of the
finance ministry, said Deputy Finance Minister for International
Affairs Haruhiko Kuroda will travel to Europe and the US next week to
talk with his counterparts about a planned G7 meeting.
Mizoguchi told AFX-ASIA he does not think Kuroda would attend the
summit talks between Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and US President
George W Bush scheduled for Sept 25.
"This is because the summit talks will cover the issue of
international terrorism," Mizoguchi said.
Finance Minister Masajuro Shiokawa told a press conference
Wednesday that he would ask Kuroda to travel to Europe and the US to
exchange views on whether the G7 talks should go ahead as planned after
the terrorist attacks on the US.
