14 May 2001, 09:05 European stocks lower as Wall Street, tech stocks dip
London, May 11 (BridgeNews) - Most of Europe's major equity markets
closed lower Friday, under pressure from weakness on Wall Street and a dip
by the major telecoms, media and technology sectors. Dealers said there
was also profit-taking after Thursday's gains, which were inspired by
interest rate cuts in the euro zone and the U.K. At 1600 GMT the FTSE
Eurotop 100 Index was down 19 points, or 0.6%, at 3314.
